I'm a recovering tea addict. I drink SO much tea on a daily basis it isn't even normal, so I've been trying my best to cut down on the cups. Not doing so well with that, not gonna lie!

One thing that is suffering for my tea addiction is my no longer pearly whites. They have definitely been getting more and more dull and stained in appearance lately and I really want to do something about it besides cutting down on the tea/coffee.

Instagram is PLASTERED with this trend for helping to get whiter teeth and although it looks pretty rank, if it works then I'm all for it!

what's that yucky looking black stuff in her mouth you may ask- well, it's charcoal.
Yep, people are literally brushing their nashers with charcoal.

Now, it's not the type of stuff you find lying in your garden BBQ so before you go rushing out with a container to sweep up the excess charcoal into and start to plaster it over your teeth, don't!
It's not that type of charcoal. It's a fancier type known as Activated Charcoal.

So, what is it?

Activated Charcoal is said to be very absorbent and therefore it can remove any toxins that it comes into contact with. It is supposed to be great at removing surface stains like those from tea or coffee. However, it won't work on stains that have been caused from taking antibiotics or yellowing from any internal factors.

I've been following this trend for a while now and I can see it getting more and more popular. I haven't personally tried this out yet but I'm going to my local health store this weekend  to buy the Ecodenta Extra Black Whitening Toothpaste with Black Charcoal & Teavigo.

This can be purchased in Holland & Barrett or in most health stores and it has got great reviews so far. Seeing is believing though, so I'm looking forward to testing this out for myself.

I'll be sure to keep you all updated on how that goes and you should probably mentally prepare yourselves for some pretty minging black mouth selfies in the meantime! (Sorry)

Will you be trying this out or have you already had any results with something similar?
I'd love to know :)

  1. I wish to buy mine and check if it will have immediate impact on my teeth too! I am planning to consult this with Makati Dentist.
