Product Spotlight: Eve Taylor Daily Skin Defence Moisturiser

Happy Monday!

This weeks product in the spotlight goes to the Daily Defence Moisturiser SPF50 from Eve Taylor London.

I have been trialing this out for well over a week now and already see a difference to my skin.
This IS a moisturiser but it is part of Eve Taylor's Solar Protection range and is intended for use as a skin SPF to protect against the sun and this is solely what I got it for.  I intended on using my own moisturiser as normal and then using this product as my sun protection over the top BUT it is so hydrating, it really can be used as a moisturiser on its own.

About the  brand and product:

This moisturiser was created by a brand that is fast becoming one of my favourite skincare brands, Eve Taylor. It is a family run business since 1963 and now exports 60% of its products to over 40 countries worldwide while still keeping it in the family and developing all of their own in house facilities. I find this astonishing as usually today, once a brand gets any amount of success it usually goes down the route of global expansion by joining one of the larger umbrellas in order to grow. However, very often the brands that make the decision to do this usually end up sacrificing some their brand pillars, eg being cruelty free.

I think its very admirable the path this brand has chosen to stick to and still have the success that they have. It is a professional, aromatherapy skincare and body care brand used and stocked in many professional salons and spa's and they are known in particular for their amazing range of effective and pure essential oils.

The products are fantastic, they smell beautiful and they are at an excellent price point with this being possible due to it being a family run, in house operation. that is a huge bonus for me.

To my knowledge, Eve Taylor herself used to actually make all of the additives and face oils for Dermalogica! This is a brand I have worked with professionally in salons before and has a high price point and I must say Eve Taylor's products would give Dermalogica a run for its money and I know many many other skincare professionals that agree with this.

SO, with all that being said, why am I choosing to feature this particular product on the blog today?

  • High protection formula (SPF 50)
  • Protects against UV induced hyperpigmentation and UVB sun damage
  • Easily absorbed ingredients that effectively nourish and hydrate the skin

Key Ingredients:

This product contains-

Octinoxate, Octocrylene and Octyl Triazone which are sunscreens that provide high protection against UVA and UVB rays.

The Verdict:

I LOVE IT!

As I said previously I wasnt expecting it to be hydrating enough to use a moisturiser alone as its main focus is sun protection but it works perfectly by itself.

I do like to layer it over a separate moisturiser though regardless because I want the full sun protection benefit of the SPF 50 and if you mix it with a face serum or a moisuriser lotion etc it can reduce the SPF.

It comes out as a yellow toned lotion but it goes on so thinly that it absorbs in straight away while still leaving your skin feeling soft and ready for makeup basically. It gets a big thumbs up and i'd recommend this to everyone that can cope with an spf. (sometimes spf in products can irritate some peoples skin)

This brand has a full range of products specifically aimed at the most sensitive of skins and I just love everything about it.

I will be introducing the brand into my freelance business in the new year when I am re-launching facial treatments and i know they'l go down a treat.

The price point for everything is fantastic and this moisturiser comes in at just £15 with an spf of 50- I mean C'mon people thats fantastic!

Have a good week everyone and wear your SPF!

Product Spotlight- Note Detox & Protect Foundation

Happy Friday Showstoppers!

This is the start of a new Beauty series called Product Spotlight.
Any new beauty products that I trial for a week or more will be reviewed on the blog if I feel they live up to the hype.

I'm kicking it off today with a foundation I've heard so many good things about from pretty much everyone that wears makeup and in particular, professional makeup artists.

SO, naturally I've been curious myself to see what all the fuss is about.

Note Beauty has an entire range of foundations to suit different skin types but one that I have heard the most hype about has been their Detox & Protect liquid foundation. This is a favourite among the whole beauty Influencer crowed and seems to get a big thumbs up to use as a bridal foundation aswell.

About the foundation:

  • Available in 24 shades
  • Medium to full coverage formula
  • Provides SPF 15 Sun Protection
  • Provides nourishment to the skin with powerful anti-oxidants to protect from environmental stress
  • Cruelty free, Paraben free, Gluten free and Vegan friendly
  • Dermatologically tested

Packaging:

The packaging is a simple sleek black box with a nice basic pump bottle and I love that you can see the shade of the foundation through the bottle with the bottom and the lid being black. I always like this type of bottle so that I can see how much product is left in the tube and when I'm working with a makeup client I can easily see which shades I'm grabbing.

Key Ingredients:

This foundation contains Vitamin E which is great at helping to protect your skin against environmental stress and it also contains Sweet Almond Oil which i personally love to see in my products.  this is because it really helps to nourish and moisturise your skin and in my opinion this ingredient works really well in this foundation in helping it to glide on to the skin and create a lovely satin finish.

How does it wear during the day?

I have been testing this foundation for over a week now and have been wearing it all day and well into the evening. I have found that it wears REALLY well. There had been a few tiny dodgy areas around my nose by the very end of the night as I do tend to have a dryer skin type but it literally was only showing at the end of the night when I was ready to take it off. Usually foundations bunch up around my dry spots about an hour into wearing them so I was very impressed with how it lasted on my skin.

Note Beauty claim that this particular foundation is suited to all skin types but I have heard from others that its more suited to a combination skin type rather than someone who's main concern is dryness. It has worked a charm on me so I am more than happy to keep using it and I will definitely buy it in a range of shades for my makeup kit. It looks gorgeous on the skin and you can achieve full coverage but still have it looking like a polished version of your actual skin. Which is all I ever want in a foundation. I hate the full throttle heavy look but I know that's a trend on Instagram and I would say if you wanted that sort of full extreme coverage, you can definitely achieve it with this by doing an extra layer or using a more dense foundation brush.

What does it smell of?

It smells of baby powder actually. It has a nice fresh smell to it and it just reminded me straight away of baby powder.

The verdict:

I really like it! It gets a thumbs up from me 100% and the price point is fantastic for all that this foundation achieves.
It retails for only £14.15 on the website and then I payed a delivery fee to have it delivered to my door which wasn't much but you can also find it in stockists such as Clear Pharmacy in Lurgan and BTY cosmetics in Belfast. You can find a full list of stockists on the Note Beauty UK website to find a stockist closest to your area.
I really love how it looks on my skin and although I still haven't found a foundation that beats the Arbonne Perfecting Liquid foundation that I've been using in my kit for YEARS, this is the next best thing and at a much nicer price point.

Note Beauty Detox & Protect foundation= Showstopper Approved

If you get trying this foundation , let me know below or in a private message what you think of it or if you recommend any other products to try out and review :)

Enjoy the weekend!

The Strawberry

Hi Showstoppers,

I hope everyone has enjoyed the weekend!

Today's post is a fashion focus and is part of my Wardrobe Wisdom series that I began a few years ago!

As you know, I have studied and trained in professional Fashion Styling and Personal styling over the years as well as styling for live TV and I am sharing my tips and advice for you whenever I am able to.

In this series of style posts, I focus on educating you on how to dress to flatter your specific body shape so that you can shop confidently instead of feeling daunted when you see something that looks great on the hanger but not so great when it's been tried on!

Gone are the days of stressful shopping. With so many ways to shop now whether its on the high street or online, I want to try my best to give you tips on what to look for that will emphasize your best features.

Today, we're looking at the Strawberry shape.

If you have broader shoulders and a smaller waist and hip area then you are a strawberry body shape.

Style Tip: Create Balance by drawing the eye away from the top half of the body and towards your waist. A belt is a great way to do this and can be a handy way to jazz up any outfit such as dresses and skirts to draw the eye to the right places!

Tops:

When shopping for tops, its a good idea to opt for a square or a V neckline which again, is all about balancing the body and drawing the eye towards your bottom half and away from the shoulders. Although I will say that this rule can be broken. For example the over sized and dramatic sleeves are really on trend at the minute and can look fantastic on a strawberry shape providing you get the neckline right. Here is an example of one of my current favourite styles from one of the clothing boutiques I'm a  big fan of lately.

I love the mesh trend at the minute and I think this top would look fab on a strawberry shape with the clean square neckline. you can purchase this top from coco Boo.

Another good style to look out for when shopping for a new top is peplum.  Anything that flares out at the bottom will always look amazing on a strawberry shape and give you the balance you need.

Credit: One Nation Clothing

This top can be found at one nation clothing. The polka dot style is great to wear both casual and more dressed up!

Credit: DLSB

I actually bought this top myself only in White. I love it and although I am more of a pear shape it still looks great. However, this style will be a strawberries best friend with the tiered mesh at the bottom of the top. Again, this is great to wear casual and dressed up with leather jeans and heels.

This can be grabbed from another one of my favourite sites DLSB.

Dresses:

When looking for a flattering dress, the same idea applies to the neckline. you want to go for something with a square, sweeping v or a true V neckline to draw the eye away from the shoulder region.

ANYTHING that flares is most definitely going to look fantastic as this is going to make our body look more in proportion. Here are a few of my picks below:

Credit: Coco Boo

The Dancing Leopard

These are both gorgeous dresses that are perfect to wear to an occasion, both featuring a flattering V neckline and a wrap style, cinched waist . Ideal picks for a strawberry body shape.

You can purchase these from  Coco Boo Loves and The Dancing Leopard.

As I previously mentioned, don't be afraid to accessorize with belts to dress up your outfits and add more focus ad definition to your waist. This is only going to flatter your figure even ore and is very on trend at the moment. (I don't think its going away any time soon either because I've been doing that from I was 16!)

I hope this gave you a bit of a guide of what to look for and some of the online websites, like the ones I have highlighted in this post, are excellent at showing you how to style each piece different ways to help you really get the wear out of them, so be sure to scroll through all of the images and follow them on social media too for more inspiration.

Sophisticated, Fun, Elegance from Basic Invite

Hey Showstoppers!

I know so many of you are currently planning your wedding and as I myself am engaged, I thought this was the perfect time to let you know about the invitation and stationary company that I am currently obsessing over.

Basic Invite is a really unique website that allows you to fully customize your design to give it the special touch you want and set the tone for your big day.
What I personally love about the company is that it makes the process of creating your invitations so smooth and easy.

All of their wedding invitations are part of a full set so that means you can really keep your design consistent from your save the date cards all the way through to your wedding menu and even thank you cards. I think this is a really nice touch!

What excites me most are Basic Invite's Seal and Send wedding invites! I LOVE them and  they will definitely make any bride to be's life much easier.
They are an all in one wedding invitation with a tear off RSVP card attached (very handy) AND no envelope is necessary because your guests name and address is actually already printed on the front of each invitation.

This is thanks to the free address collection service that Basic Invite offers to all customers- I mean, that's the big winner for me because this is going to save so much time and allow you to get on with everything else that goes into planning your wedding day!

Not only are all of the designs beautiful and FULLY customizable  down to the tiniest detail but there are over 180 colour options available at your fingertips with instant previews so that you can see exactly how it looks. There is even a range of foil options to choose from.
If you are needing envelopes, there are also over 40 different shades available and even include a convenient peel and seal feature.

There are so many themes to choose from and personalise to your taste, even wedding favours but one style I wanted to bring your attention to is the clear collection.

I  think the clear effect is so modern and classy. It's simple but gives that unique touch and something a little bit unexpected!

Another really lovely touch to the experience is that they offer a free personalized wedding website!
This is a great idea for displaying the details of the wedding to your guests such as a map with directions to the location as well as any other little details you want to include. you can check some examples out here.

Once you have designed your wedding stationary, you can order a free custom sample so that you can see exactly how it will look in real life before you place your final order! Basic Invite is one of very few companies to provide custom samples and this allows for reassurance of the paper quality etc before you order. Personally, I am an over thinker and a worrier at the best of times so seeing the design that I am going to be basically branding my own wedding day with will allow a huge peace of mind!

Whats even better is that it doesn't stop at wedding stationary. You can even design your own business cards as well as other special events such as baby showers and graduations. The possibilities are endless and it is completely up to you how creative you want to get with your project!

You can check out all of the options available here and I hope this little insight into the website has inspired any bride's to be!

*Thank you so much to Basic Invite for sponsoring this post.*

Get Your Glow With Skinny Tan

Hello!

I hope you are all having a nice Tuesday.

I wanted to pop on to my blog and express my newly found love for Skinny Tan!

I have started to use this brand for both self tanning and professional spray tan for my clients.
I have previously used brands such as Aviva Labs, White To Brown and Sienna X, all of which I really like but found that they take too long to dry on the skin and the shades were not consistent on everyone's skin. By this, I mean that a medium on one persons skin might only be a light medium whereas on another persons skin it could be a good deep medium and I just prefer to know exactly what you are going to get from each bottle when spraying.

I had decided to test it out for myself after my mum bought the retail versions and thought they were good, so I thought I would contact the company and arrange a trial of the professional soloutions to trial on my clients and myself.

I tested out each shade from light, medium and dark on multiple people and all turned out gorgeous! The tan looks very even and very natural as soon as it comes into contact with the skin and is dry in no time!

I hate that sticky feeling that you have to put up with if you are sleeping in a tan overnight while it develops so the fact that this dries quickly means that people are able to actually go about their business during the day without looking or feeling sticky and when they go to bed at night, they will be alot more comfortable.

Another thing I liked about the spray soloutions was that it isn't actually necessary to sleep in it. Depending on what sort of shade you want to be, you can wash the excess off after as little as one hour!
However, If you cant really be bothered showering on the same day/night you get sprayed, it is designed to not over develop if it is kept on overnight.

Along with all of those points, the deal was sealed when I discovered the wear off was FANTASTIC! If you aren't great on keeping on top of your exfoliating and moisturising, this tan will be your best friend. You won't end up like a scaly serpent but obviously it is preferred if you look after your skin to really increase wear.

I also love the fact that the soloutions are formulated to visibly smooth the appearance of cellulite (it actually does seem to which I was surprised about), are vegan friendly and cruelty free aswell as being paraben and SLS free.

I am now offering Skinny tan Pro Spray tans as part of my business- Showstopper By Natalie

Dark Tan-Professional Soloution

The brand has many different self tanning products which all look fantastic but so far, I have tried the Instant tan (Pink Bottle) and the Express dark mousse (Black bottle).

I can honestly say that both of these are beautiful and I am hooked.
Think of the Instant tan as a face and body makeup. It washes off in the shower and is intended to instantly and temporarily tan your skin for an event or used to spot tan an area of your skin that is on show. It smells gorgeous and feels so luxuriously smooth. I feel that it is fool proof and if your boyfriend can successfuly apply it to your back without having you look like streaky bacon, then its a winner in my eyes!

The Express mousse version is intended to tan your skin for roughly a week and the excess can be washed off after just an hour depending on whether you want to go light, medium or dark. If you want to be a bolder shade then sleep overnight in this product for the deepest shade.

Like the spray tan soloution, all of the shades available out of these self tanners are VERY natural looking. Even the darkest shade looks like its been naturally tanned. It does not look like muck which can often happen with darker tans.

All the retail products are very reasonably priced and can be purchased in Superdrug stores or on the Skinny Tan website:

Visit your local Skinny tan Salon for a professional tan treatment.

Happy Tanning!

Tried & Tested: IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream

Hiya!

It's been a while from my last post, I know! Months actually and it isn't good enough.

On the plus side, during my break from blogging I have had the chance to test out lots of new beauty products and have been able to plan out new and honest reviews and posts that I will be writing up over the next few weeks from now. Yay!

I'm currently getting ready to start a new job in Bridal styling full time, after previously working part time in Bridal and LOVED it , though I have kept myself busy enough in the meantime with doing the Makeup for various shoots aswell as some freelance beauty work and freelance writing, the most recent being for Northern Woman Magazine.
In their May issue, I have created a fresh faced, dewy editorial look based around spring/summer fashion trends while in the current issue for June and July, I have written a handy little guide to correctly colour matching your own foundation in stores. If you have got reading it, I hope you find it helpful.

The first product I'd like to sing praises for at the minute is the CC+ Cream by a company that I first heard of a few years back on QVC- IT Cosmetics.

Now, those that know me will know iv'e a slight addiction to watching QVC for makeup and beauty brands.
I have watched the IT Cosmetics segment on the show many times over the past few years and was very impressed with what I was seeing and hearing. However, I have only recently gotten around to actually purchasing myself a bottle of the product!

While on holidays last year in L.A, I tested it out in Ulta via a tester and was instantly amazed by how much smoother and more moisturized my skin looked upon application and it was then that I made my mind up to purchase when I got home.

Who are IT Cosmetics:

It is a Makeup and Skincare company founded by former Anchor Woman, Jamie Kern Lima in California.
She struggled with her skin, particularly rosacea  and didn't really find a brand that had a focus on skincare aswell as the aesthetic side. This led her to write up her own business plan and take the plunge to begin the journey of developing her own line of cosmetics that focused on feeding the skin rather than just focusing on the artistry side of makeup.

She was very successful with this new venture and has actually developed her products with plastic surgeons and dermatologists which really gives the products an edge in my opinion.

What I personally love about the IT Cosmetics line, is that the products are literally a complete skincare routine in one or two products! In particular, the CC+ cream.

This is a FULL COVERAGE CC cream that acts like a full coverage foundation but is a pigmented moisturising cream. Not your typical foundation!

Most CC creams I have tried look great when you first dot it on the skin but as soon as you start to blend it in, they all seem to loose their coverage. The IT cream does not.

You can actually use this CC cream as your anti ageing serum, moisturiser, concealor,  colour corrector, sunscreen and full coverage foundation and actually skip the rest!

It is insanely moisturising and pigmented and so far has lasted me all day, especially in the heat wave over the past few weeks.

I have been skipping my moisturiser in the mornings and going straight to the CC cream after cleansing with great results. Then in the evening, I have been using my moistrusier, serums etc so this product can really save you time if you are very busy and may not have the time to really go through all the steps of skincare every single morning. This allows you to save the rest for the evening! You can of course apply all of your skincare routine aswell as wear the foundation if you like with equally great results. It's up to you.

Another thing I love about it is that, like most foundations, it does contain a sunscreen but this contains a factor 50 which I never see in a product!
You can really tell that it has been formulated with the help and advice of qualified surgeons and dermatologists with the fact that it is a factor 50 PHYSICAL SPF rather than a chemical SPF.
They have spoken out as to why they have chosen a physical version of Titanium dioxide and Zinc oxide claiming that these are the best natural source of sun protection. However, after having a little skin chat, I have came to learn that actually, it can be best to have a mixture of chemical and physical spf today with how far the industry has developed. so that is just something to bare in mind as I have always been scared off of chemical spf in the past!

I am super super impressed with it and will be buying again as my every day foundation plus my going out one among my other favourites. The overall look that this gives to your skin combined with the visible skincare results has me hooked.

You can purchase this in selected Boots stores or on the Boots website, and also from QVC UK and IT Cosmetics uk website.

It costs £30 for a 32 ml tube which I think is very reasonable considering all of the skincare benefits it provides aswell as the full coverage and long wear. The stuff REALLY works and goes a long way. DO NOT over do it- super pigmented built in concealer!

If you have tried this or any other products from the IT cosmetics line, I would love to know what you think :)
